Irish Setter Hunting Boots
Not to long ago I decided to purchase a pair of the Irish Setter hunting boots, and give them a thorough test during an upcoming hunt that I had booked in Alaska. My main reason for the decision to pick this brand was due to the fact that they were made by Red Wing Shoes. Red Wing was the only brand of footwear that my dad and his dad ever wore. I don’t need a pair of work boots in my line of work, but I did need a pair of hunting boots for this trip. When I realized the manufacturer of the Irish Setter brand of boot, I thought it must be a good shoe. We had to be able to hike miles in rough, wet and rocky terrain. I needed something that would keep my feet dry, comfortable and warm. The guide had told me that I should bring a second pair of boots since many of his customers in the past had failures with their footwear. I was skeptical about needing another pair of shoes, especially one with a reputation such as these. Needless to say I decided to go with just one pair figuring that I would be all right. As it turns out I am scheduled to return to Alaska for my 5th straight year and I am still wearing the original pair of Shadow Trek hunting boots. I can’t say how pleased I have been with these shoes. Zero failures since day one. Next to outerwear, it is the most important tool you have while on a trip like this in such a remote area. I also use these all season long at home, where I am in them 4 times a week during our 60 day hunting season. My advice to anyone needing a pair of hunting boots for everyday use or an occasional trek in the woods is to try a pair of these out. I know from experience that these boots hold up well and feel like they were made for your feet from the moment you put them on.
