It was one of those times when the worst of worst turned out to be just what I needed. I had been working awfully hard the past winter trying to get my new brand of boats to be hot on the market, but they just didn’t seem to sell. So it was the beginning of summer and some big wig distributor stopped by about mid afternoon to check out my boats. I thought “here we go my big break.” My boats were top of the line in manufacturing and had a number of accessories you wouldn’t find on just any boat. I offered to take him out for a little spin and he agreed apprehensively. He pulled us out of the dock and we were on our way. It took a while for him to build up the courage to take the slow crawl of the boat to a speedy rift through the lake. He pressed harder and harder on the throttle to see what extremes this unique boat would take him to. I must admit he seemed too nervous to have driven before, it had to have been his first, and I was thoroughly surprised seeing how top in the food chain he was compared to me. We whipped around one turn and then another, and another. All of the sudden I notice that we were slowing, I looked up and all but the big wigs footwear had disappeared! He had fallen into the lake taking a turn to sharp as he himself leaned into it.
After I pulled him up out of the lake, I took over and we headed to the dock. I was sure all hope of making it big had slipped away as he had from the boat. He was soaking wet, so I went inside my cabin and grabbed him some dry outerwear. He appreciated the gesture so much and was so embarrassed by what had happened he agreed to sign me on!
