Horse Racing
Since I was a kid I have always enjoyed horse racing. The horses are magnificent creatures that are kind and strong. When i turned 16 my father bought me my own horse to train me and to keep as the family pet. We lived on a farm so space was never a problem, my horse Galileo had plenty of room to roam. To my surprise caring for a horse and the equipment needed to race was quite pricey.
I needed all kinds of things, like harnesses, oats, hay and that was just for the horse. I myself needed a riding uniform and steel toe footwear, none of which come particularly cheap. The hardest part of all was that 75% of the expenses were mine due to the agreement I had made with my father in keeping the horse. I had a part time job at a deli in town and worked around the farm with my dad for the extra cash.
About a week before my first competition, my dad surprised me with a new pair of bibs and coveralls and a bright white uniform with pink diamonds patterned around the sleeves and waist. Whether or not I was great at my first race…. I at least looked like I belonged!
